House dance originated in the late 1970s and early 1980s in the underground clubs of Chicago and New York known as Housemusic. With various movement influences and
dance styles such as tap, Latin, capoeira, Afro jazz, breakdance and martial arts. House dance is mainly danced by feel, guided by the music, and lets you express yourself freely. It involves plenty of improvisation and creative physical movement. It is also considered a social dance, as you dance with others rather than alone.
There is no distinction in the culture; what matters most is being in harmony with music, freedom and acceptance. That is all that counts.
Omdat the fornamelijk een club dans is, zijn mensen er for the muziek and the gezelligheid. Om toch nog iets extra’s te willen delen, mooie danspasjes, of samen te dance with een ander op ‘Housemusic’ zijn er 4 belangrijke begrippen waarin ik jullie zou willen begeleiden;
– Freestyle/Choreo: here you’re free to improvise and create together.
– Rhythm and Music: gives you the space to be creative with music
– Social: you learn to dance with one another rather than on your own
– Body awareness: helps you become more self-aware, so you can develop your own dance style more quickly and feel more comfortable.
You will also learn the basic movements of House dance and various techniques, including
skating, stomping, shuffling, footwork, lofting and Jacking.

A Suitable Challenge
For those looking for more of a challenge, the dance classes at FLXN | DANCE SCHOOL EINDHOVEN the perfect solution, but don’t worry, there are plenty of classes for you to join. The teacher adapts to the dancer’s needs. So whether you’ve been dancing for 10 years or are just starting out, our teachers will guide you through the class. The classes are a little more upbeat and energetic, but have a festive atmosphere.
Working on a great performance
Your teacher will get you fully prepared for the big FLXN End-of-Year Show. All classes and styles feature in this big, varied show. The whole FLXN FMLY together in one show. And you’ll be there too!
As well as giving a fantastic show with your group on a big stage for an even bigger audience, you’ll see the other house dancers and what dancers in the other styles have prepared. You’ll see, learn and be inspired by all the dancers at our dance school.
And of course, invite your parents, friends and classmates to share the experience.
Clothing
In House Dance classes, you want to feel free. We recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothes. A larger T-shirt or hoodie paired with tracksuit bottoms or leggings. The choice is yours. Don’t forget comfortable shoes, preferably with some grip.
